Stein Birkeland

Stein Birkeland is a Senior Portfolio Manager and Head of Energy in Equity Strategies at Norges Bank Investment Management (NBIM, aka Norway’s sovereign wealth fund or ‘the oil fund’). Preceding this role, Mr Birkeland was Senior Portfolio Manager in NBIM’s Environmental group with responsibility for a global investment mandate focused on low-emission energy & alternative fuels. Prior to joining NBIM in January 2012, Mr. Birkeland was SVP Project Finance at FLEX LNG Ltd in London/Singapore, and prior to that an Equity Research Analyst at SEB Enskilda in London covering commodity/energy sector equities for 6 years. He has a M.Sc. Econ & Fin from NHH/UCLA (Norway/USA).
