Patrick Murphy Speaker at Green Hydrogen East Coast Summit

Patrick Murphy

Vice President Sierra Club

As an undergrad in 1997, Patrick Murphy secured the introduction of bipartisan environmental legislation to the US Senate. Within two years, he was directing national programs for the student-run arm of the US’s oldest environmental NGO. His leadership incubated environmental campaigns across dozens of campuses, including a national Climate Change priority in 1999—near the beginning of modern climate policymaking.

After receiving his MBA from Notre Dame, Patrick pivoted to technology and ESG consulting, advising global companies on decarbonization, reporting, and sustainability narrative. His colleagues and clients have relied on his insights into nearly every dimension of sustainability, from climate standards to minority business engagement, philanthropic impact, and ethical applications of AI.

Patrick is now a sustainability speaker, instructor, and Vice President for Sierra Club, the oldest environmental organization in the US. His leadership strengthens Board oversight of climate justice and clean energy, while steering change initiatives that affect stakeholders across the country. He lives in Fort Worth with his wife, a nationally recognized leader in health equity and healthcare systems, and their free time is dedicated to family, several very opinionated pets, and planning their next sea kayaking adventure.
