Workforce and Community Engagement Lead, Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technologies Office U.S. Department of Energy

Dr. Emily Loker is an experienced community engagement professional, researcher, and educator. In her current role as the Workforce and Community Engagement Lead for Department of Energy’s Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technologies Office, she works to coordinate the workforce, community engagement, and energy justice activities within the office. She also co-leads the Energy Justice and Workforce Hydrogen Interagency Taskforce (HIT) crosscutting team tasked with ensuring environmental justice, DEIA, and workforce are prioritized in the implementation of the U.S. National Clean Hydrogen Strategy and Roadmap. Prior to joining DOE, Emily conducted research at NASA to support their environmental justice work and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at University of Colorado Boulder. She earned her Ph.D. in communication for social justice from University of Colorado Boulder and her master’s in public service from the Clinton School of Public Service. Emily is also a proud two-time AmeriCorps alumna and worked on anti-hunger and anti-racism in Portland, Maine during her service terms.
